PhD research into how secure, shared records could make everyday systems in Kenya more trustworthy. Our role: technical consultants to the PhD researchers, helping design and build the working systems.

The problem. Checking that an academic transcript is genuine usually means writing to the university and waiting weeks.
The idea. The research tested a shared record that cannot be quietly altered, so a school or employer can confirm a transcript in seconds.

The problem. In Kenya, a patient's records usually stay at the hospital that created them, so the next hospital starts from scratch.
The idea. The research explored a secure shared ledger that lets hospitals exchange records safely, with a clear trail of who looked at what.

The problem. Mothers carry a paper Mother and Child Health booklet to every clinic visit, and when it is lost, the history goes with it.
The idea. The research turned the booklet into a phone app, so pregnancy and child health records stay safe and travel with the mother.
